Ryan Scheffler, Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Ryan Scheffler, P.E., Senior Geotechnical Engineer, 10+ years experience
Specialties: Structural earth retaining wall (SRW) design, temporary shoring design, surface water infiltration, and geotechnical engineering for large and small commercial and public projects.
Ryan joined the ZGA team in 2017. Ryan works in our geotechincal group and his primary duties include retaining wall design and managing geotechnical projects.
Ryan was interested in becoming an engineer as far back as he can remember. During a summer civil engineering internship with Pierce County following his first year at WSU, he was introduced to Geotechnical Engineering on a project involving a collapsed mine shaft below a roadway and found a profession that combined math, problem-solving, and his love for being outside. His civil engineering background led to his interests being primarily focused on retaining walls and pavements, but the unique challenges specific to each job also keep him on his toes.
When not working, Ryan spends as much time as possible outside hiking, climbing mountains, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He has climbed ALL 5 Washington volcanoes.
